F1 races to watch if you need F1 back in your life
The first race of 2023 isn't until early March. If you need some F1 action before then, here are some races that are worth another watch.
The break between F1 seasons always seems to drag on forever. It’s awful.
So if you’re like me and need something to pass the time, I’ve got you covered. Below is a list of memorable F1 races that still make for great viewing the second time around.
I’ve got highlights of each one linked and if you have an F1TV Pro subscription, there’s a good chance you’ll be able to watch the full replay too.
And just a heads up: my short descriptions of each race below may contain some spoilers - so just read the headings if you want zero details of why these races were so memorable.
Let’s get into it.
Saudi Arabia - 2021
This is the chaotic maiden race at the lightning-fast Jeddah street track. There were safety cars, red flags and scruffy entanglements between the two men fighting for the championship.
Azerbaijan - 2017
This incident-filled race included a controversial coming-together between championship rivals. Meanwhile, Daniel Ricciardo showed just how good he is on the brakes as a battle for the podium came down to the last lap.
Italy - 2019
Charles Leclerc went up against Lewis Hamilton in this race. The big question was whether Leclerc - Ferrari’s newest driver at the time - could win the team’s home race for the first time since 2010.
Monaco - 2016
I wouldn’t recommend watching this one if you’re a fan of Daniel Ricciardo. Driving for Red Bull, he led the early portion of this race in wet conditions. Would it stay that way? (I couldn’t find free highlights online for this one, unfortunately).
Sakhir - 2020
George Russell famously stepped up to Mercedes to replace a Covid-ridden Lewis Hamilton in this race. Everyone was eager to see how he would do, but heartbreak soon descended - and the eventual winner would shock everyone.
Brazil - 2016
Max Verstappen displayed some insane overtaking during this wet race - and I’m not sure I really need to say anything more… It’s well worth a watch.
Germany - 2019
F1 calls this one the race of the decade. For much of it, you weren’t sure who was going to win. The race started in intermediate conditions - and several incidents occurred as drivers made the fateful choice to change to slicks.
Spain - 2021
This race is a chess-like battle over strategy, with Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen going head-to-head. What would be quicker: a one-stop or a two-stop strategy? (This video will tell you/spoil the answer).
That’s my list! I hope these races keep you entertained for the next couple of weeks.
Be sure to let me know which ones you enjoyed watching!
New fav post of yours I’m watching all of these
